5 lbs ground round | 3 cans "hot" chili beans |
3-4 large onions, diced | salt and pepper |
2 cloves garlic, minced | 2 T cumin |
celery, 3-4 stalks, diced | 4-5 T. hot chili powder |
1 small green pepper, diced | 3 teasp oregano |
2 large cans tomato sauce (plain) | 1 teasp paprika |
1-2 large cans whole tomatoes | 1/2 teasp crushed red peppers |
Note: You may want to add extra spices
Sautee onions, garlic, green peppers, celery in 1/4 cup vegitable oil. Add meat, breaking it up as it browns. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cook 1-2 hours. Taste after cooking for 1 hour and add additional seasoning to taste.
This is excellent served over macaroni noodles with saltene crackers.
